The Cessna 172: The Classic Flight Simulator Air Craft

Some of us dream of being a Pilot

Flying through the skies at whim seems to be be an awesome prospect but most of us never get the opportunity. When I was in my twenties I had that chance and flew in a Cessna twice. I know that I was lucky to have this experience.  I chat about it on another page so I won’t bore you with it again, but if you would like to find out more about it, go to my Flight Simulator Aircraft page and find out about the fantastic time I had.

Needless to say flying a Cessna 172 is certainly a fun experience! Even though I was fortunate to get to ‘fly’ a real one I must admit it was a pretty unusual situation. The good news is that you too can climb into the cockpit of a flight simulator aircraft anytime you wish to . With a really good flight simulator the cockpit of Cessna 172 feels very much like the real thing.

Since I have flown in both let me share with you some benefits of piloting a flight simulator aircraft vs the real thing:

  1. Flying a real Cessna 172 would cost you an arm and a leg – with the flight simulator there is no need to fork over that money for expensive lessons and rental of the aircraft.
  2. Flying a real Cessna 172 does not allow you to practice different flight maneuvers and emergency scenarios as safely as your flight simulator aircraft does.
  3. Flying a real Cessna 172 has its logistical concerns. You’re at the mercy of aircraft availability and instructor availability and you need to plan around the weather on any given day.
  4. Flying a real Cessna 172 can cause significant harm and damage if you make a mistake and crash your plane

I must admit I say this jokingly because for most of us taking flying lessons is out of the question. If you do have the ability and means to take lessons, transitioning from a flight simulator aircraft to real plane will be a lot easier than if you never flew a flight simulator aircraft at all! For one, you are already comfortable and familiar with your  flight simulator aircraft , and two, if you have been flying with a great flight simulator program the plane should be pretty close to the real thing.

Realism really adds to the experience so if you have not been utilizing a top notch flight simulator like Flight Pro Sim – check it out at Flightprosim.com and be prepared to be amazed by features like this:

  • The cockpit controls handle the same as a real Cessna
  • The world “map” is programmed and based on real life data
  • The way the aircraft performs to various internal and external forces mimic real life

By this last one I mean that the ‘feel’ of the controls are reactive to weather phenomena just like it would if you were really flying.

A lot of people , a flight simulator is nothing more than a video game and on many levels it is just that, but to me it feels so much like the real thing it brings back some awesome memories and puts a smile on my face every time! Go ahead check out Flight Pro Sim now – you wont regret it!
